Notable Mention

The youth always generates buzz. In a generational effort to cite direct and local influences, West Palm's Surfer Blood has done just that in a generous shout-out to us. Well, us in a previous being known as Pygmy. Pygmy was the outfit we tried on in OUR youth and have since tailored it to what is now a tighter fitting Animal/Tropical plus various earmarked musings.
See the interview below as they chose Pygmy to be the reason they started playing music and accurately described the lead singer's diet of sugar and bacon.

Many thanks to Surfer Blood.

Sweat Stock Interview

This is an interview conducted by Christine Borges to our resurrecting guitarist, Kris Pabon, who is descending upon Miami today to play with us at Sweat Stock. This interview is all about how our communal commute through the east coast is shared and a coastal Easter is reenacted when one of us rises from the dead for a few performances. Christine Borges, who probably felt like Jim Caviezel in Frequency, spoke with Pabon via technologies not worth mentioning. Read the full article below.

2004 S/T EP

As the mid-millennium summer was closing on Miami and the leaves didn't change, five dandy musicians reunited and recited a new approach to their song-craft:
lending to the song as much as possible.
Recorded live in Jose's bedroom with a couple of microphones, this 2004 song cycle revolves around a sound that best suits the name with dark and vaguely straight forward emotions.

I Love you Both

SEE IT IN FULL ON APRIL 3RD AT THE TOWER THEATRE

Upcoming: 04/03/10 @ Tower Theatre

Through every barnyard, tennis court, backyard, apartment, garden and basement, we've dug through some interesting terrain to plug in gear and blast semi-audible tunes to college folks. This next show may be the most unique we've ever performed at. Four bands, all personally scoring film excerpts. Most probably choosing a film they favor or enjoy. We, however have decided to film our own excerpt. We'll show it in full and provide the soundtrack. In fact, we just finished filming it yesterday. Hopefully it'll come off as planned. Even if it doesn't, we tend to take comfort in uncomfortable situations.

There is one more very exciting factor involved in the show.
WE ARE RECRUITING VOICES TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE ANIMAL/TROPICAL CHOIR
So far just for this performance, but if it turns out well it might not be the last time we do this.
Please respond to this post or contact us on Facebook if you'd like to be a part of it. You don't need to be a good singer, just have a voice you're willing to share with some friends and strangers.

Stay tuned for The Skeptical Operetta...

Scrooge McDuck aint got shit on us!
So, while he is diving into his vault of gold coins (and most likely hurting himself), we are drowning in lo-fi wavelengths and distorted microphones. Basically, we have a vault of our own.
It contains many a demo, early version and afterthought. In order to share with our dearest friends we've decided to feature different demos, old recording or maybe even live versions throughout the blog's lifespan from our catalog of 10+ years playing music together and separately.

Here's the first taste:
"CANDY" (2007)

Negro en Bicicleta

This is our LP manufactured in 2006 under our previous moniker,
Down-Home Southernaires.
